In general, this is probably the wrong place for XML -- it fits much
more nicely in the object layer than in the raw data layer of a
multi-tier application.

Of course, XML can be very useful in the raw data layer for database
import/export and persistence, but that generally will be done
directly on the server rather than through a web client.
