[XML-DEV Mailing List Archive Home] [By Thread] [By Date] [Recent Entries] [Reply To This Message] re: GEDCOM to XML?
* Craig_Gingell@D... | | I would like to see GedML add value to GEDCOM, especially in the areas of | web publishing. Since GEDCOM is so widely deployed, wouldn't it be a good idea to have GedML as "the XML representation of GEDCOM", and then to overcome the limitations of the GedML/GEDCOM data model by developing an entirely new schema in XML? This should make it easier to convert between GEDCOM and XML, and also give the new standard much greater freedom. (Disclaimer: I don't know GEDCOM at all, but have been a little thinking about this lately.) --Lars M. xml-dev: A list for W3C XML Developers. To post, mailto:xml-dev@i...
