osd rpm

Well, this was something of a shock. I thought I'd done my homework
properly, but I'd overlooked both LSM and rpmfind, despite having
heard of both already. (Thank you Steven Champeon and Daniel Veillard
for mentioning these!)

LSM seems very similar to XSA, although with slightly more information
and a different syntax. From some comments on the LSM home pages it
appears that the time may be ripe for an XML LSM syntax.

>From the information on the LSM pages it appears that IAFA is rather
similar to LSM, both syntactically and with respect to the actual
information in the records.

Daniel Veillards RPM RDF and OSD appear rather similar, and seem to
have a rather different focus from XSA/LSM/IAFA. Still, cooperation
may be useful here as well. (And, yes, I _am_ impressed with the
rpmfind system. Way to go, Microsoft. :)

I'll contact the developers of LSM and come back with an update once I
know what they think.

Daniel, do you see any benefit to aligning yourself with an XSA/LSM
effort? Your data seem to come from a different source and to be used
for a different purpose, but I don't really know your system. Or do
you think an XSA/LSM system should be aligned with yours somehow?

Other opinions are of course also most welcome.
