jega kannanSubject: Converting Variable value into Entity
Author: jega kannan

Hello,

I have $paragraph declared in xslt which is a style name of WordML (Eg., ATitle)

I have a entity declared in style sheet (xsl) <!entity ATitle "Article Title">

Now,

in processing, I have a $paragraph as Atitle, I am concating -- concat('&amp;',$paragraphStyle,';')" -- and and i am getting a result of "&ATitle;" and i have stored it in a variable name ($bird).

when I declare this $bird as a <xsl:element name="$bird"> (I have tried with {} as well) I am getting a element name as '<&ATitle;>'. But my expectation is <Article Title> that is output of &ATitle; entity which I have declared as a entity in style sheeet.

Please help me out.

Thanking you in Advance

Sincerely,

Jega

You are confusing definition of entities as part of the stylesheet with entity references that you are creating in the stylesheet output.

Also, entity references cannot be used for element or attribute names; you would be able to say <myElement>&myEntity;</myElement>, but not <&myEntity;/> (also, note that element names cannot contain spaces).
Keep in mind that if you create an output that relies on an entity reference, such entity must be defined as part of your output XML (or referenced by such output in an external DTD).

I think you can do what you are trying to do just not using entities at all. Just rely on variables, or even external parameters whose values can be modified when you execute the XSLT.

Hope this helps,
Minollo
