Subject:issues with XSL from CSV Wizard Author:Max Hodges Date:28 Feb 2003 02:56 AM
Hey guys, I output my Outlook contacts as CSV, but I can't convert it to XML using the wizard because of some "inconsistent number of commas" nonsense. So I removed a bunch of fields that I don't really use, and it worked, but it didn't get the whole file. The new file just seems to have cut off at a random spot. possible overflow?
last three lines of converted file follow:
I know I could write my own routine in VB to do this, but what's the point of having the wizard, it he had brain damage.... :)
keep up the good work!
I can email my file to a non-public address if desired...

Max,
It appears that Outlook doesn't always export trailing column information. That is, the CSV file includes 95 column names on the first line, but only has values for 88 columns on the second.
The import utility has been fixed to be more flexible about this issue. It will create empty elements if a line is too short.
It has not yet been determined which version this fix will be released in.
Another problem you were facing was that the error messages were getting truncated. This has also been fixed.
There should be a notice, sometime soon, about which version of Stylus will have these fixes.
