gary follettSubject: xi:include including include statement verbatim not the included file
Author: gary follett

I am attempting to use xi:include.
The resultant output is the include statement verbatim, rather than the contents of the included xml file, as expected.
Can you please assist?
I have pasted the included, including, XSLT and resultant output here.

Included File (http://203.41.103.102/products.xml)
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<Products>
<Product>MG01367</Product>
<Product>WG00093</Product>
<Product>WX00201</Product>
</Products>

Including File:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<catalog xmlns="http://www.mycompany.com/catalog">
<inclusion>
<xi:include xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude"
href="http://203.41.103.102/products.xml"/>
</inclusion>
<header>
this is the header
</header>
</catalog>

XSLT:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
xmlns:cat="http://www.mycompany.com/catalog">
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:copy-of select="./cat:catalog"/>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>

Resultant Output:
<?xml version='1.0' ?>
<catalog xmlns="http://www.mycompany.com/catalog">
<inclusion>
<xi:include xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude" href="http://203.41.103.102/products.xml"/>
</inclusion>
<header>
this is the header
</header>
</catalog>

Hi Gary,
XInclude processing is a feature that XSLT processors enable only when requested. Unfortunately, the Stylus UI doesn't list such option in the configuration page for the Saxon processor, so in order to run your test case you have to create a custom processor with the following settings:

Command line: java net.sf.saxon.Transform -s:%1 -xsl:%2 -o:%3 -xi:on
Path: <the path to your Java installation>
Classpath: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stylus Studio X15 Release 2 XML Enterprise Suite\bin\saxonsa.jar

Note the "-xi:on" setting specified in the command line.

Hope this helps,
Alberto
