Hi ,

Thanks Ivan for your reply.

I searched by typing Excel in forum and I found some link regarding the XML to EXCEL converter discussion. But I didn't get a clear idea about the conversion.

I want to know whether is it possible to translate xml to excel and back from excel to xml using Stylus Studio. If it so, what is the procedure for doing that?

In discussion they are telling to convert into XSLT format, CSV format like that. I tried but I am not able to get it.

Since the xml fiel I want to convert have multiple values in a tag with same tag name and tag id. Child tags with its values are coming in between the multiple values for a same tag name. Also sub array tag values also there in between.

Please any body help me to translate from xml to excel and vice versa.

Since our requirement is immediate and I have purchase the Stylus Studio tool as soon as possible if it converts xml to excel and vice versa.

Looking forward to hear soon

Regards
Lakshya

Right click on the table header then click on "Copy as Tab-Delimited"
Switch to Microsoft Excel and do paste (CTRL + V)

Hope this helps

Hi Ivan,

Thanks a lot... It helps me a lot.

But some issues are there. The xml file have multiple sub-array tag values(in the sample.xml file it is string-array/item).I have to copy each sting-array values seperately and paste. Is there any solution to export entire tag values and sub tag values at a time into Excel sheet?

Als how can I save it back to the original xml file after doing some modifications in string values in the imported excel sheet ? So that the xml file will work like original file.

Once again thanks and expecting to hear soon

regards
lakshya

Hi Lakshya

What you are describing does not sound practical.

The XML structure you are editing can not be automatically mapped into flat file and round tripped.

It may be possible to write XSLT or XQuery to generate the flat file.

Why you don't edit the file directly in the XML Grid View?
Why you need to work in Excel?

Hi Ivan,

Yes, you are right. We can edit the xml file through xml grid view.

But in my company because of some security reason we want to give, the string name and values which have to edit alone to outside. Thatsy we are looking for Excel sheet conversion. So that we can convert the values which we want to edit into Excel sheet from xml file and can give outside. Also when they will return the Excel sheet after editing we can convert it back into xml file. So we can ensure the security of our file.

As you said-- to write XSLT or XQuery to generate the flat file. How will be the procedure to generate one flat file including all tag multiple values, sub-array values through Stylus studio? Also how can I convert back from excel sheet then?

Thanks and Regards

lakshya
