After following along with one of the training videos (http://www.stylusstudio.com/videos/SQLUpdate/sql-relational-data.html), I discovered that I can not create the SQL-Insert shape. The table does not drag onto the canvas as the video shows. Why is my installation working differenetly than the video's?

Hi,

Do you have the 2010 XML Enterprise Suite? Which database server are you connecting to? Are you in the mapper tab when you try to drag and drop? If so, what happens when you click on the table and try to drag it?

Regards,
Rory

Rory,

I have the 2009 XML Ent. Suite Rel 2. Do I need the 2010 version?

Drew,

The video was done using Stylus Studio 2010. I installed 2009 XML Ent. Suite Rel 2 on my machine and I could not create the SQL-Insert shape by dragging the table onto the canvas. I was able to right click on the canvas and select Function Block -> DataDirect XQuery -> sql-insert.

You can do sql queries and inserts using 2009 XML Ent. Suite but the recommendation would be to upgrade to the latest version of Stylus Studio which is 2011. As you can see from the video there have been enhancements in ease of use and of course additional functionality. There will be more updated videos put on the web site and they will all be using either 2010 or 2011.

Regards,
Rory
