Lars WendowskiSubject: HIPAA EDI - Looping question
Author: Lars Wendowski

Dear Forum,

We had a specific question which we are seeking advice.

We have a MySQL database which we export ANSI X12 (837) data in xml
which is passed to our EDI box

We have mapped all Tables/Collumns to the corresponding required Segments but have design question

Issue: Looping or How to create one larger 837 from same Clinic and Payer for differnt patients. So we do not create an 837 per patient?

How do we indicate to begin a loop?

Should we

1) Create a field/collumn which is market TRUE if we are sending multipul 837's? this would indicate to the EDI box to constructut a loop?

Hi Lars,

Could you be more specific, which target element would you like to repeat?

Thanks
Ivan

Ivan, Thank you for your response.

I guess my question was abit less specific and more about fundamental
As to how I can indicate, in any message, to begin looping?

Thanks for your patience

Lars,

If you are using the DataDirect XML Converters and DataDirect XQuery, you should simply create a FLOWR block for outputting the GROUP you want to repeat.

In addition XML Converters supports transaction with multiple message therefore you can create multiple 837 in the same envelope

Ivan
