Subject:Blurry Background image / Vector Graphics in XSL-FO/XSLT Author:Brian Anderson Date:02 Apr 2010 12:53 AM
Team - I'm posting the below on behalf of Kurt Leichum. Brian
I urgently need to know:
a) What can be the cause that a background image looks blurry even so no height and width are specified. In accordance with your documentation that means that Stylus Studio accepts the graphics original size.
Please see my sample as well as the original image file for your reference.
I will be working on the formatting as soon as I know how to solve the image problem.
b) Is it possible to include vector graphics in XSL-FO/XSLT?

Hi Kurt,
a) could you be more precise regarding where the image is blurry? Is it the XML Report preview or the final generated PDF?
b) SVG is supported as part of XSL:FO by both Apache FOP and RenderX. Clearly the support could have restrictions depending on which statements you are planning to use...

Hi Kurt,
the problem is that your image is stored using 72dpi, while most viewers assume 96dpi and end up scaling your image to look blurry.
Either save it again using 96 dpi (e.g. open it in MS Paint and save it with another name, without doing anything to the image), or enter a value in the height property of the XML Report document (e.g. 25mm)
