Praveen PaletySubject: Conversion File for a Header Detail Type Fixed Length File
Author: Praveen Palety

I am working with Fixed Length File.
I am trying to create Conv file to convert this file to XML.
Each Record(row) have different number of fields and field lenghts.Each Row ends with a 'CR,LF' and begins with record type ID(1,2,3,4..)
Some of these records can repeat multiple time. So it is like a header detail file.

Ex: Record Type 1 will have Bank Details.
Record Type 2 wil have payment details and can repeat multiple times.

What the steps for creating a conversion file,where I dont know the number of times Record Type 2 will repeat.

I have selected Fixed File Format and I have created a new region for each record type.

Don't create a new region for each type. Regions cannot repeat;
they are fixed-length portions of the file and occur one after the
other, and then the file ends.

Do use the option to Add Node/Pattern. It will let you put in
a pattern, and all lines that match that pattern can have a specific
layout.
