Peter RobertSubject: JVM settings cannot be edited for JDK, only dropdowm?
Author: Peter Robert

Hi,
I tried to test Webservices and always receive AXIS errors in reply.
Thus, I checked Java settings and found that it is only using my JRE.
Although I have a local JDK installed it doesn't detect it.. (well.)

But then, the documentation says that I should be able to modify it, and that's not possible, I cannot edit the JDK path nor select a new one.
And if I untick the JRE and configure an external JDK, it simply does nothing, i.e. the Webservice call is not working???

Can someone please explain me how to configure the JDK, deactivate the JRE (I still need it though on my machine)?
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,

Stylus Studio uses the following registry key to detect which JVM is current in the system.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\
JavaSoft\
Java Runtime Environment
CurrentVersion

and the equivalent for the SDK

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\
JavaSoft\
Java Development Kit

The Sun Java installer sets above keys to the appropriate values.
Could you please check which values you have there?

Alberto

Hi,
I simply do not have this key in the registry, as I did not install JDK.
Most apps or server that I'm using and linking to JDK are configured somewhat with the %JAVA_HOME% variable, which I set in OS settings.

Although I can somewhat create this regkey, I'd prefer to configure it manually, isn't there a way to do it?

If not, could you please give me an excerpt of your JDK reg key, I'll manage to create it myself once I know what the installer usually sets.

Thx,
Peter
