Hello all,

I have an XML file that contains multiple "Items." Based on the criteria, I want it to stop processing the specific node once a match is reached, rather than all of the items.

The XSLT is:

<xsl:value-of select="count(Student[Student[Gender='Female'][Declared_items/Declared_item[(Item='Counseling and Forensic Psychology Dual Degree') or (Item='Counseling Psychology') or (Item='Forensic Psychology') or (Item='Pastoral Counseling')]]][Attributes/Program_Type/Attribute[Description='Graduate']]/Grades/Summary[Ttlcrdtsttmptd > 8.99])"/>

The XML structure contains any amount of Declared_item/Item and there is no unique id to any of the items. Therefore, if a student has any of the four majors above, in all four of the items, they would be hit four times. This isn't good for unique counts. I've attempted to insert combination of [1] ([position() = 1]), but it's not ceasing the processor after a match is found for the student.

Any help would be appreciated.

Being aware of the data structure and the proper usage of predicates helped me. Solution found:

<xsl:value-of select="count(Student[Student[Gender='Female'][Declared_items/Declared_item[2][(Item='Counseling and Forensic Psychology Dual Degree') or (Item='Counseling Psychology') or (Item='Forensic Psychology') or (Item='Pastoral Counseling')]]][Attributes/Program_Type/Attribute[Description='Graduate']]/Grades/Summary[Ttlcrdtsttmptd > 8.99])"/>
