Vishnu Priyan GunasekaranSubject: Loop through each char in string using XSL
Author: Vishnu Priyan Gunasekaran

I am just a novice in XSL programming. I want to write a code for looping through a string and each character to be displayed in a table. the scenario is given below in detail. do tell me how to solve this issue.

XML:

<Root>
<Data>
<record>
<field displayName="Column1">1000</field>
<field displayName="Column2"> PPPAA PPPPP AAAPP APAPA AAAAA </field>
</record>
</Data>
</Root>

XSL functionality:

Column 1 Column 2

1000 P
1001 P
1002 P
1003 A
1004 A
1005 P
1006 P

if you see in the XML. the first field is the starting number which corresponds to the first character "P". So the number increments along with each character in the string. the spaces should be removed. only Alphabets should be used to display. I am not sure how to come up with the solution to this. I was able to find the count after removing the spaces and when i tried to loop through the string i am struck. Can you be able to help me.

Thanking you before hand for the help and patience.

Regards,
Vishnu Priyan

Hi,
which version of Stylus Studio are you using, and which XSLT processor have you selected in the Scenario Dialog?
