Hello,

I'm using a trial version of Stylus Studio. I'm thinking of upgrading from a much older version. I am checking out what the pdf looks like after executing my current code. This test version is inserting spaces where I don't want them -- after commas and semicolons. This doesn't occur with my older version. I see that in the Editor General window there are word dilimiters set, including a comma and a semicolon. I removed all of the dilimiters, but this has not solved the problem. Is there a setting I'm not finding?

My code . . .
<fo:block margin-left="0.0pt" space-after="0.0pt" space-before="5.0pt" text-align="start" text-indent="0.0pt">
<fo:inline font-family="Times" font-size="10pt" font-weight="bold">outdoor trees</fo:inline>
<fo:inline font-family="Times" font-size="10pt">, </fo:inline>
<fo:inline font-family="Times" font-size="10pt" font-weight="bold">shrubs</fo:inline>
<fo:inline font-family="Times" font-size="10pt">, </fo:inline>
<fo:inline font-family="Times" font-size="10pt" font-weight="bold">plants or lawns</fo:inline>
<fo:inline font-family="Times" font-size="10pt">; or</fo:inline>
</fo:block>

The results . . .
outdoor trees , shrubs , plants or lawns ; or

Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,
the option for word delimiters is used only in the editors to support the selection of words (e.g. by double clicking on one) or the "go to next word" command (e.g. ctrl+arrow). It doesn't affect how the PDF renderer treats the input data.
The difference in behaviour must be caused by a more recent version of the bundled processor (I guess RenderX), that is processing also the white space nodes located between two consecutive fo:inline blocks.
You could try rewriting your code to be something like this:

<fo:block margin-left="0.0pt" space-after="0.0pt" space-before="5.0pt" text-align="start" text-indent="0.0pt">
<fo:inline font-family="Times" font-size="10pt"><fo:inline font-weight="bold">outdoor trees</fo:inline>, <fo:inline font-weight="bold">shrubs</fo:inline>, <fo:inline font-weight="bold">plants or lawns</fo:inline>; or</fo:inline>
</fo:block>

Hope this helps,
Alberto
