Thomas Zapf-SchrammSubject: Connection to MS SQL Server in SS09 Enterprise under Vista SP1

I can't connect to an instance of MS SQLServer Express 2008 from Stylus Studio Enterprise 2009.

The name for the machine is HAL4, the name of the SQL Server instance is SQLEXPRESS. So I tried:

//HAL4
=> Error: [XQuery][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket to host and port: HAL4:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect

//HAL/SQLEXPRESS
=> Error:
[XQuery][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket. Unknown host: HAL4/SQLEXPRESS

Looking at the error message i think //HAL4 is better.

But why is the connection refused? TCP/IP is activated, Port is 1433. In SQL Server security is set to operating system security (I need no userid/password when I open the SQLServer Management Studio).

Astelix

PS: I downloaded the latest sqlserver jdbc drivers from MS (version 2.0) but I have no clue what to do with them.

OK. Solved it myself. TCIP Port has to be 50182.

//HAL4:50182 works.
