I recently got a license for Stylus Studio 9 XML Professional Suite and am experiencing a very annoying behavior.

Whenever I move the mouse into the applications window the hourglass icon is displayed for about 10 to 15 seconds before I'm able to do anything in the application.

I'm running Stylus Studio (build 1291h) on a Thinkpad T60P with 2GB of RAM with Windows XP, so performance of the laptop should not be an issue here.

This behaviour makes the application nearly unusable.

Does anyone experience the same problem? Is there a solution?

Do you have any XML or XML Schema document open in Stylus Studio when that behavior occurs? Are those documents (or some documents referenced by them) reached through network connections?

If that's the case, the behavior you are experiencing may be caused by Stylus trying to check whether a module has been modified externally. You can disable that behavior in Tools > Options > Application Settings > Automatically check for externally modified files.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Indeed all my files are external files, as I'm working on Clearcase view paths via ftp.

Your hint did the trick.
