Brightman MkhwanaziSubject: schema validation
Author: Brightman Mkhwanazi

I am implementing a GS1 standard invoice document and I am getting the error below in Stylus Studio when validating the xml schema.

file:///c:/.../OrderLogisticalInformation.xsd:85,82: Type not found in urn:ean.ucc:2:NameAndAddressType

But when I use xml schema to xml wizzard, stylus studio creates the correct xml document.

Regards
Brightman

Hi Brightman,
could you attach all the files included by this main schema?

Thanks,
Alberto

I have attached all files.

I can open the schema successfully in XMLSpy and it is valid.

Hi Brightman,
this schema doesn't follow the guideline that suggests having a single entry point for each namespace (as enforced by the Xerces-C++ schema validator). For instance, OrderLogisticalInformation.xsd (that implements the namespace urn:ean.ucc:order:2) has these lines

<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/Contact.xsd"/>
<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/NameAndAddress.xsd"/>
<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/PartyIdentification.xsd"/>
<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/ShipmentTransportationInformation.xsd"/>

but the schema specs warns against this practice because "given that the schemaLocation [attribute] is only a hint, it is open to applications to ignore all but the first <import> for a given namespace, regardless of the actual value of schemaLocation". The proper way to import the urn:ean.ucc:2 namespace is by using a single

<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../InvoiceProxy.xsd"/>

Hope this helps,
Alberto

Thanks Alberto

It works if I use InvoiceProxy.

I imported the schema to my integration system successfully, created mappings and generated the wsdl file based on this schema. I am getting the following errors when calling the webservice from stylus studio :

Ref element ds:Signature not found in the Schema
Base type could not be found: eanucc:LineItemType
Namespace urn:ean.ucc.:pay:vat:2 is referenced without <import> declaration

The same wsdl works in XMLSpy.
I have attached the wsdl file.

Hi Brightman,
the version you are using had an issue with multiple xs:schema defined inside a WSDL using xs:import to import each other; to workaround this problem you should use external files for the support schemas, keeping only the main one inside the WSDL, like in the attached files.

Hope this helps,
Alberto

Thanks Alberto

It works with separate schemas.

Hi Alberto

The sample xml file is not validated by the schema.

Hi Brightman,
the OrderLogisticalInformation.xsd has the same issue; it includes more than one .xsd for the same namespace:

<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/Contact.xsd"/>
<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/NameAndAddress.xsd"/>
<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/PartyIdentification.xsd"/>
<xsd:import namespace="urn:ean.ucc:2" schemaLocation="../../ean.ucc/common/ShipmentTransportationInformation.xsd"/>

You should apply the same change you did before to this schema and to the rest (like InvoiceParty.xsd, vat/VATTaxInformationExtension.xsd...)

Hope this helps,
Alberto

I read this topic because I'm getting the same error:

file:///c:/Documents and Settings/kfox/My Documents/MOIE2009/WSDLs/combo.xsd:13,54: Base type could not be found: ISSARequest

I made sure I was importing only one schema from a namespace but I'm still getting the same error. Files are attached.

Karen,
the ISSARequest/ISSAResponse you are trying to use in the combo.xsd come from the http://www.smc.af.mil/ISSA/5.0/services namespace, while combo.xsd works in the http://www.C2SSA.gov/C2SSADomain/ISSA5.0 namespace.
You need to add a xmlns:issa="http://www.smc.af.mil/ISSA/5.0/services" attribute in the root element, and add a issa: prefix to the various ISSARequest, ISSAResponse and Satellite references.
