Christopher ArthurSubject: Error whenever we try to read or write X12 EDI with the EDI Converter
Author: Christopher Arthur

We are currently using Stylus Studio to create pipelines and while looking into the upgrade from 2007 to 2008 we ran into the following error:

com.stylusstudio.xmlpipeline.runtime.PipelineException: main Error: com.ddtek.xmlconverter.adapter.edi.EDIConverterException: [DDEF0067] FATAL ERROR Unrecognized element I01:ms

All we did was open an existing pipeline in SS 2008 and re-generate the Java then re-compile it. We got this error first when trying to read an EDI 852 and then later while trying to write an EDI 810. There doesn't seem to be any pattern as to when the write will work and when it will throw this error. The read has never worked. All of it is working fine in SS 2008, but as soon as we put it in the framework we developed to use the pipelines it starts spewing the error. The JVM is version 1.6.0 Update 1 on the system where it is failing and 1.6.0_03 in Stylus Studio.

Any idea what we need to look at? The unrecognized element I01 is definitely a clue, but what it means is beyond me since every single piece of X12 will have an I01.

It sounds like somehow you have parts of two different versions
of libraries, repositories, DLLs or jar files in the part.

The :ms convention is an internal marker from an earlier version
of Stylus Studio. That convention isn't used in the current version.

Can you check your paths to make sure you're only using components
from one version?

Thanks for the quick response. I think we have it under control now. We had an idea that something may have been wrong with the libraries but we weren't sure what it was. We've replaced them and things seem to be in better condition now.
