R KannanSubject: generating log files of Xquery operation
Author: R Kannan

Let me first confide that I am new to XQuery. I am using DataDirect XQuery to load XML files into an Oracle DB. The XQuery is invoked from within Unix shell script.

The question here is how can I get XQuery to generate log file for this loading of XML file into the database ? The idea behind this comes from the SQL*Load used in Oracle, where we get the log file of the load operation. Since we are used to seeing the errors that might have occured during the load process, I was wondering if there is a similar mechanism in DataDirect XQuery.

Appreciate any help.

That kind of functionality is not currently available in DataDirect XQuery; if any of the RDBMS update operations fails, the whole XQuery will fail, and no updates will be performed by the XQuery itself.

The usecase you are describing sounds very interesting; if the lack of the functionality you are looking for is a major road block for you, we would like to understand how we could help you working around it.
