madhavan varadarajanSubject: Using document() to lookup from an external XML
Author: madhavan varadarajan

Hi - I am having trouble with using the document() function. Can somebody help.

My external XML is like this

?xml version="1.0"?>
<PLANTS>
<PLANT><NUMBER>P001</NUMBER><VALUE>008</VALUE></PLANT>
<PLANT><NUMBER>P061</NUMBER><VALUE>007</VALUE></PLANT>
<PLANT><NUMBER>P064</NUMBER><VALUE>002</VALUE></PLANT>
</PLANTS>

So, I have defined the KEY and the document.

<xsl:key name="plant-lookup" match="PLANT" use="NUMBER"/>
<xsl:variable name="plants-top" select="document('test_plant_xlate.xml')/PLANTS"/>

I need to test for lookup value against an incoming field based on value in the VALUE field

<xsl:if test="LGNUM =???">

Can you provide inputs?

Madhavan
