I recently upgraded Stylus Studio XML Home Edition to Release 2 build 894m.
Now whenever I resize the window or swap back to it from another app it takes 5 seconds or more to redraw the fancy tool bars.

Is any one else experiencing this behavior?

We have not seen that before.

You could try resetting the registry toolbar information.

Use regedit.exe to remove anything beginning with 'DockingWindows'
under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stylus Studio\2007 XML Home Suite Release 2'.

Another option is to switch the display mode. Inside of Stylus
Studio, go to Tools > Options... > General > Application Settings
and switch the 'UI Theme' to whatever setting it currently isn't.

Let us know please if this makes a difference.

Also, what sort of video card do you have?

Deleting the the reg entries seems to have fixed it.
The problem was the same for both UI styles.

The card display is NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G in a Fujitsu laptop.

Thanks for the tip. :)

"seems to have fixed it"
Spoke too soon - the problem is just as bad.

From the About screen it seems I am running a debug version. Is that possible?

The release contains:
dbgmgr.dll
debugger.dll

and the JVM is

1.6.0_02-b06 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM Sun Microsystems Inc.
debug mode port:8000

Those DLLs and the JVM entry are to support Saxon and Java-based XSLT
debugging, so that's not it.

Hi there,

is there another solution for that problem? I have exactly the same problem, doesn't matter which Stylus Version I try... :-(
To disable all the toolbars is not applicable for me.

I have a Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT on a dell inspiron 1720, win xp pro, 4GB RAM, 2,4GHz Dual-Core... This MUST be enough power for stylus normaly...

I need a solution for that, please.

Best regards and thanks in advance.

Hi Hans,
we haven't been able to reproduce the problem on our test machines.
Does the problem still occurs if the "Large Buttons" setting in the Tools | Customize dialog option is not checked?

Alberto

Hi,

yes, it is still the same with the small buttons.
Only closing all toolbars helps but this is a bad solution :-(

BTW: I tried it out with the 2007 and 2008 Version and is absolutly the same... :-(

Best regards.

Problem has not gone away. It seems remarkably similar to this thread...

David, Hans,
the next update of Stylus Studio 2008 will have a faster draw algorithm for toolbars, that hopefully will work also with your video cards.

Hope this helps,
Alberto
