I am using XSLT v2 to generate html slides. my code starts
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE stylesheet [
<!ENTITY nbsp " ">
<!-- single whitespace -->
<!ENTITY whiteSpace "<span style='color:#ffffff;'>&nbsp;</span>">
<!-- copyright symbol -->
<!ENTITY copyRight "&#169;">
<!ENTITY colon ":">
]>
...
later I have

<div id="logo">&whiteSpace;</div>

where a CSS stylesheet provides the background image.

When I debug my XSLT and it gets to the line immediately above Stylus Studio crashes. It does work OK when I do not run the stylesheet in debug, and the inline macro is correctly expanded!

Can anyone offer any thought?

I tried your snippet with Stylus Studio 200t release 2 bl894m and Saxon processor, and I could not crash it. Which version of Stylus and JVM are you using?

Thanks for your interest

I am using the same build of Stylus Studio 849m as yourself with Java 1.6_02-b06.

What I want is the background image in the div, I also find that

<div class="container">
<div class="column">...</div>
<div class="column">...</div>
</div>
<div class="clearFloat">???</div>

.column {
width: a%value;
float: left;
}

followed by

.clearFloat {
width: 100%;
float: none;
}

(i.e using CSS columns) does not work unless the div has content hence the <span ...> </span>

I have not tried my XSLT direct with Saxon 8.5 but I will try
