Marlene Fox-McIntyreSubject: Problem with prefixes

Hi, I've created a stylesheet that transforms from one xsd schema into another, but the source schema has prefixes, like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <i:Alarm xmlns:i="http://www.mydomain.com/abc" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.icad.gov/abc ..\..\xsd\xyz.xsd" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:j="http://www.it.mydom.com/" j:effectiveDate="2007-09-04" j:sourceIDText="1141179" j:lastUpdatedDate="2007-09-04">
- <j:Alert>
<j:AlertEventCategoryCode>Path Sensor</j:AlertEventCategoryCode>

The problem is that the information in my source xml is not making it to my output document, and I think the problem is with the prefixes. I used Stylus Studio to create the mapping, and it all looked ok, but I do not get the expected data in my output xml.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Don't think of them as prefixes, but as namespaces - that is, a
region in which those names exist.

Probably your XSLT isn't referring to the names from the XML as
being in the correct namespace.

The XSLT FAQ can help.
