Kristin HolumSubject: Need to add nodes to an inmemory tree
Author: Kristin Holum

My team is developing a front-end program that will enable our process architects to create a drawing in Visio and then store information about the diagram and associated objects in an XML file. It has been tasked to me to read the XML and create a standardized layout for process flowcharts. I created a test XML file with the appropriate objects and object elements and my code creates the flows really well. Problem: I will not be sent spaces and the arrows may cross several rows and lines which will require me to "build" the arrows and add the spaces in-memory. Currently, I have pseudo-code for building the arrows so I can't provide code. However, I am working on adding spaces to an inmemory tree of my objects. Below is the code for just that portion. Unfortunately, every time I try to display the variable, none of my flows are generated. As soon as I remove the last three lines, I can see the flows again but it is obvious that the spaces have not been added. Can anyone view the code and see if there is anything blatantly wrong with it? I am new to XML/XSL/XPath so I am sure you will find some glaring errors. Any help would be appreciated.
I am also including the schema element definition in the attachment.

Hi Kristin,
given the description of the process and the small fragment of the XSL it's hard to understand what's not working. Can you package a complete testcase, with the full XSLT, a sample XML and the desidered output? Also, knowing which version of Stylus Studio you are using, and which XSLT processor you have selected in the scenario dialog would help troubleshooting the stylesheet.

Thanks,
Alberto

I am not using stylus. Will this be a problem?

Hi Kristin,
this is a forum for Stylus Studio users, and we can help only when the issue/problem/context is Stylus-related. If you are using a different editor/processor/technology, you should look for help in an appropriate newsgroup/forum.
