Assuming you are using XML Publisher, you will need to first create the XQuery/XSLT code and then add those kind of comments manually in the generated code.

Yes, we are using stylus's XML Publisher.
So, is there no way to get across any kind of comment at all to either the html+css or xsl-fo output from within the Publisher environment?
Our workflow:
stylus XML publisher -> xslt -> html+css -> office xp & 2003
(and sadly no apoc or apache fop).
I am trying to set up some way to cater for the old microsoft programs that are expected to be kept in use for at least another 2 years by 95% of our client base. We could control their output by feeding them xhtml with style comments.
Any ideas to get the same thing done via stylus's report environment are most appreciated
