Declan LeonardSubject: Blank values in lookup lists
Author: Declan Leonard

Is it possible to consider blank values in lookup lists. For example where <tans> node is empty set <trans> node to manual.

Also is it possible to set a default value using this functionaly?

If this is not possibe using lookup lists is there any other was to do this with *.conv files?

Thanks,
Declan

It should be possible to replace a blank field with a value
for using a lookup list. If you send along a small test case
to stylus-field-report (at) progress.com or attach one here,
we'll take a look.

Also, could you tell us which release of Stylus Studio? There
should be a build number followed by a letter under Help|About.

Thanks for the reply Tony.

The Stylus build I am using locally is 501J. We are also using the deployment adapters to do these conversions.

I've attached the .csv and .conv files. See the Transmission field. I want to set this field to Manual where no value is supplied.

Thanks,
Declan

Okay, that explains the problem.

The bad news is that support for looking up an empty
value in a list isn't present in 7.1 (2006, build 501).

The good news is that it was added in 7.3 (2006 release 3,
build 653) and if you download it, you'll discover that
we let your license key activate it AND it has support
for replacing an empty value with an item in a list.

See http://www.stylusstudio.com/update

You might also download the 2007 release, which has a really
cool XML publisher that can write HTML+CSS or XSL:FO.

Thank Tony,

Is the equivilent release available for the deployment adapters as well? This is mainly where we need this functionality as we process as large number of csv documents on the fly.

The equivalent build of deployment adapters has the fix as well.

(Convert-to-XML inside of Stylus Studio actually calls the
Convert-to-XML deployment adapter, but pipes the output
directly to the preview window.)

Sorry to bother you again Tony, but could you point out to me where I can download the 2006 V3 of the deployment adapters. I don't see them on the update page.

Thanks,
D

Tony,

I've only got chance to test the no value lookup list funtionality with the deployment adapters today and it doesn't seem to be working. The test was performed using version 7.3 of the adapters.

The lookup lists are handled correcly using the full desktop version of stylus version 7.3.

Could you take a look at this when you get a chance. If you need any more info let me know

Thanks,
Declan

Hi,

Did anyone get a chance to look into this problem?

Thanks,
