Julien FaissolleSubject: Custom EDI to XML conversion
Author: Julien Faissolle

Hello,

I would like to have something clarified about EDI to XML conversion. I have tried the automatic EDI to XML conversion which is great. What bothers me is the case of non conforming EDI messages, ie messages with segments and or data elements added or modified. In this case, it seems I am stuck with the basic Convert To XML adapter. Is this true ?
The basic use case for me is to take one of the Schemas generated from the EDI specs and modify it to include the specifics of my customers. I have difficulties with the basic Convert To XML adapter. For example, it seems impossible to give different names to the various components of a given field.
What would be the best approach to make this conversion (from custom EDI to edited XML schema) ?

Thanks for your advice.
Julien

It's possible today to add new items to the code lists, via some
external files.

The built-in EDI adapter will gain the capability to support completely
customized EDI messages in Stylus Studio 2007 release 2, due within the
next few months.

We are starting to select beta candidates; if you feel you would like
to be considered, please let us know at stylus-field-report
