it seems, that Stylus Studio editors break the NTFS hardlink mechanism under Win XP. If I create a hardlink by

fsutil hardlink create c:\dir\foo.xsl c:\orgdir\foo.xsl

and afterwards edit either of these in Stylus Studio, changes are not reflected in the other instance's content ant it's directory entry (file size or timestamp).

I had the same problem with ultraedit and it related to the fact, that backup files were created by renaming the original file rather than copying it. Therfore the backup file pointed to the hardlink data whereas the original was just a completely new file without any hardlink.

Kurt,

I tried to reproduce the problem without success.

I created a hard-link in the folder simpleMappings with the following command

fsutil hardlink create linkbooks.xml books.xml

The I opened both files in Stylus Studio did a change in linkbooks.xml then switched to books.xml and clicked File->Reload and see the changes.

Ivan,

did you have the "automatically create backup copy on save" option enabled when testing?

Ivan,

I think I found the problem. I alternatively edited the files with Ultraedit and Stylus Studio. Ultraedit broke the hardlinks. Stylus Studio works ok - apologies!

Kurt
