Thomas VilladsenSubject: Custom pipeline elements
Author: Thomas Villadsen

!:My goal is to perform some custom code within a pipeline!

?:Is there any way to implement a custom element within a pipeline (.net or .java class conforming to some interface). Or perhaps define a custom filter?

Hi Thomas,

This is an interesting topic for our team.
Could you please provide more details on which kind of operation you need to perform that is not currently available?

Thank You
Ivan Pedruzzi

Hi I'm working together with Thomas, and I’ll try to explain a little bit more about our needs:
We need to merge 2 Xmls after a special set of rules and logic.
We found it very difficult to implement this logic in a XQuery or Xslt, but we clearly can see the advantage of the pipeline and the visual programming, therefore, we would like to know it it's possible to create our own component and embed it in the pipeline process?

You can't embed "custom components" in the Pipeline; but if there are parts of the logic that are better expressed using Java, for example, a simple approach could be to embed Java Extension Functions in your XQuery or XSLT to take care of those parts. Would that work for you? A simple example about how to do that is available in the "javaExtension" folder of the example project shipped with Stylus Studio.
