Tracy TiceSubject: How to connect to Informix

I am trying to connect to Informix 9.4 on a unix server. Am familiar with ODBC and a little ADO, but the Connection Settings dialog is confounding me. Can someone provide an example for Server URL specific to Informix? I have gotten various errors, most recently:
[StylusStudio][Informix JDBC Driver][Informix]Database not selected yet..
I installed the Additional Language support option for JRE - am I missing anything else?
Appreciate any help - please let me know if I need to include some other detail.

Hi Tracy,

Please have a look here for Informix Connection properties

Hope this helps

Thank you (and as I've seen mentioned on other posts, what a quick reply!), but afraid I'm not getting it. On opening the Connection Settings dialog defaults to:
//localhost:2003;informixserver=informixservername

Based on my ODBC connection, I initially tried:
//10.10.0.5:1526;informixserver=sertec_on

There I get the error mentioned above. Now, based on the info from DataDirect, I tried stating each property explicitly (as I understand them?):
//servername=10.10.0.5;portnumber=1526;informixserver=sertec_on

...resulting in the error (after a little time, 20-30 sec):
[StylusStudio][Informix JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket. Unknown host: servername=10.10.0.5

I'm afraid I need some very specific instructions here :-)

Please try the following

//10.10.0.5:1526;informixserver=sertec_on;DatabaseName=<database name>

replace <database name> with the database name

In case of error could you post the entire stack trace?

Are you using File Explorer -> Relational DB or "DB to XML data source"?

Thank You

That was it! I was under the impression that the DBs would just be displayed in the tree after connection. (DB to XML, by the way.) Thank you very much.
