Rick ScofieldSubject: Java compiler failed
Author: Rick Scofield
Date: 23 Mar 2006 02:45 PM
My ultimate goal is to deploy a Java solution to another server that does not have stylus studio running on it.

First, when I try to compile with StylusStudio I get a 'Java compiler failed:" message see attachment. Thought I configured the class path correctly, see attachment.

Second, I have purchased SS Enterprize edition, do I have to buy something else to deploy the compiled code to another server?

Thank you for your help

From the screenshot seems like that the JDK is not installed properly.
What happens if you click "Auto Detect"?

Stylus Studio uses the following registry key to detect the JDK

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Development Kit\CurrentVersion

You can still configure the java compiler and the Home directory manually.

I also noted that you have xalan.jar in the JVM classpath settings and it should not be necessary.

It depends which module you are using, for the Stylus Studio Adapters the answer is yes you will need to purchase Stylus Studio runtime license.

Hello Ivan,
I have JDK installed, however the HKEY registry does not look like you example. JDK is installed (see attached screen shot) If I manually input the JDK path into the configuration screen, I still have the same compile error. If I then select Auto Detect, the manually configured path is removed from the configuration screen. I'm sure I'm missing some here but what?

Thank you, please advise
Rick

Rick

The auto-detect feature uses the registry key I mentioned, if the key doesn't exit is not going to work.

If you configure the Java setting manually then you don't need to click auto-detect.

- Set Home Directory to C:\Sun\AppServer\jdk
- Set Java Compiler to C:\Sun\AppServer\jdk\bin\javac.exe
- Click OK

Hope this helps
