Peter WieselquistSubject: Entity crisis: Entities in source document rendered as extended chars.

Hi gang,

My xslt transformation is taking html entities (like ®) from the source xml document and outputting them as what looks like extended characters. Instead, I would like the entities to be retained right through so that the browser displays the resulting html correctly. If need be, I could also live with the entities being converted in the &#999 format.

Can any of you smart folks help me?

Hi Peter,

When the .xml file is parsed, all entities like ® will be converted to the actual characters. Neither you nor we have any control over that. What you can do, however, is escape the entities in the original .xml file like this: ® Then, after the .xml file is parsed, you will get ®

Note to those of you who follow this bulletin board on e-mail, please do not try to read this thread in the email, it will give you headaches. Please read this thread directly on the bulletin board.

Thanks
