gavin clarkSubject: xsl:choose based on the values of incoming data ?

Hi,

I have an element in my input XML which could contain a few values, I want to populate an output element with different values depending on the input data. I've tried to use the xsl:choose but clearly i'm missing something obvious becuase I can't get it to work !!

any help appreciated

(cut down versions of my data)

input xml :

<StartInvoice>
<Invlin>
<LineType>GDS</LineType>
</Invlin>
<Invlin>
<LineType>CHG</LineType>
</Invlin>
<Invlin>
<LineType>ALC</LineType>
</Invlin>
...

and what I'd like to appear in the output xml is :

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
<Invoice xmlns="urn:schemas-bex-biz:Invoice-v3" xmlns:a="urn:schemas-bex-biz:Invoice-v3">
<InvoiceLine>
<InvoiceLineType invoiceLineTypeCode="GDS">Goods and Services</InvoiceLineType>
</InvoiceLine>
<InvoiceLine><InvoiceLineType invoiceLineTypeCode="CHG">Charges</InvoiceLineType>
</InvoiceLine>
<InvoiceLine>
<InvoiceLineType invoiceLineTypeCode="ALC">Discounts</InvoiceLineType>
</InvoiceLine>
.
.
and so on.

I look forward to your replies !

thanks in advance

Gavin

Hi Gavin,

I have attached 2 sample .xslt files. One of them uses <xsl:choose> to do the job, the other has a little conversion table in the XSLT file and does the lookup without using xsl:choose.

Take your pick!

Clyde,

thanks a lot for that both solutions worked excellent !!! , I've implemented the table solution as it's easier to maintain over time :)
