Uwe DraisbachSubject: XSD to XML: Problem with pattern
Author: Uwe Draisbach

Hi,

I want to create a sample Xml-file from my Xsd. One node has the following restriction:
<xs:pattern value="^[a-zA-Z0-9]"/>

The result in the sample Xml-file is: <PLZ>^s</PLZ>

Why is the symbol ^ in the result? It's part of the regular expression and not a character which should be displayed.

Regards,
Uwe

Hi Uwe,

If your intent is to filter all letters and numbers I think the expression should be <xs:pattern value="[^a-zA-Z0-9]"/>

Still Stylus Studio doesn't generate a valid fragment for this case.
It will be fixed in the next update.

If you were looking to use the metacharacter ^ to work on line scope, then you are out of luck because XML Schema supports only a subset of regular expression as explained here.

Hope this helps
