Xuelian LiangSubject: Does Stylus2.0 support xsl:include, xsl:import?
Author: Xuelian Liang

Hi,

I read a posting of Dec.2, 1999 saying that Stylus didn't support xsl:number, xsl:key, xsl:apply-imports.....

I don't know which version of Stylus it was talking about.

Now, I downloaded Stylus trial version 2.0, my question is, does it support all the tags and attributes listed in the Stylus Sense:X automatic tag completion system?

Is that also true that eXcelon has no intention to consider to let user have an option to use processors other than Stylus native one or IE5?

Your responses are greatly appreciated.

Hi,

We plan to have almost complete support for XSLT in 2.0. In the release notes for beta 1, you will see the current compliance notes. We plan to implement most of the outstanding xsl instructions including xsl:number. xsl:include and import have always been part of Stylus.

We won't have the capability to preview with processors other than Stylus or IE5 for the next release. We are considering it for a future release.

Hi,

Could you just clarify please once more whether is supported in Stylus 2.0 or not. I am using it in my XSL but it seems to do nothing...

Thanks,

Martin

The missing command in the above message is xsl:apply-imports.

(It seems it was not added since it contained XML tag chevrons)

Stylus supports xsl:include and xsl:import but not xsl:apply-imports.

What about the future? Will this be supported in a future version of eXcelon Stylus, and when?

(xsl:apply-imports is a very powerful and useful directive when modularising XSL scripts and enables overridden templates in imported scripts to be called - analagous to the super.function() call in Java)

We will continue to bring Stylus closer to full XSLT compliance. I cannot give a specific date for implementation of apply-imports.
