See attached files

XPath expression "count(data(/test/person/@names))"
- should return 3, e.g. the number of NMTOKENS,
- it returns 1

Documenttest(8).xml
test file

Documenttest(2).xsd
related schema

Hi Paul,
the XPath 2.0 evaluator that is available from the XML editor is not schema-aware; if you want to run such a query you need to paste it in a new XQuery document, where it returns the expected result.

Hope this helps,
Alberto
