hi, i got a few problem in getting elements in xpath
suppose i got a xml document :

<courses>
<course>
<courseName>blahhh</courseName>
<courseID>0102</courseID>
<offers>
<offer>
<courseCode>aaa</courseCode>
<place>city</place>
</offer>
<offer>
<courseCode>bbb</courseCode>
<place>suburb</place>
</offer>
</offers>
</course>

<course>
<courseName>tsting</courseName>
<courseID>0103</courseID>
<offers>
<offer>
<courseCode>ccc</courseCode>
<place>city</place>
</offer>
<offer>
<courseCode>ddd</courseCode>
<place>suburb</place>
</offer>
</offers>
</course>
<courses>

then i'd like to take every single course which got a certain courseCode. I have try this xPath statement :

course[contains(offers/offer/courseCode,'ddd')]
-->it return no elements

it seems that the xpath statement only compare with the first courseCode of each course. Is there something i'm missing?

The following Xpath expression select a course name based on the course code

/courses/course/offers/offer/courseCode[contains(. ,'cc')]/../../../courseName

You can test yourself using XPath evaluator in the XML Editor.

Hope this helps
