Subject:nonbreakingspace-bug in stylus? Author:Daniel Mettler Date:21 Jan 2000 10:06 AM
hi,
i have a question about saving xsl-files in stylus:
i wrote a xsl-file containing some encoded nonbreaking-space characters (ampersand square 160 comma-point). when i reopen the file, stylus replaced each occurrence with a question-mark ('?'). is this a bug? do you know a work-around?
another question: can i have stylus not to change the formatting of my xsl-code when saving files?

I need a bit more information.
1) What version of Stylus (see Help | About) are you running?
2) I'm not clear exactly what steps you performed. You have " " (ampersand-pound-160-semicolon) in an XSL template, and when you save the stylesheet and reload it, the template contains a '?' instead?
3) What stylesheet formatting are you referring to? Do you mean Stylus's adding the two default templates?

exactly. i do not use any entities, just the above to insert a nbsp into my html-output...

no, i meant the formatting of the xsl-code i wrote. if i save a xsl-file and reopen it, stylus adds new linebreaks between normal xsl-tag-areas and comment-tag-areas, confusing me and my code a bit ;-). this seems to happen not with all comments.
e.g. (ignore \) \ \<\!-- optional --\>
gets
\
\<\!-- optional --\>
i would appreciate if stylus would not format the code, just highlight etc..

Regarding Stylus' reformatting your stylesheet:
It is a known Stylus issue that extra line breaks are added between top-level stylesheet elements and comments.
Regarding your   problem:
I'm unable to reproduce it with Stylus 1.03.01. Can you email me the styleshet you're starting with and exact steps? Thanks.
