Oliver GebertSubject: Bug or feature? Epty xmlns when using html output
Author: Oliver Gebert
Date: 23 Feb 2005 07:47 AM
Hi,

I have the following problem - as far as I remember it all started with using
Styles V6.x.

When I transform XML into HTML using the included Xalan-J processor,
I got empty xmlns attributes for every tag which is generated in the xslt:

Example XSLT:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:output method="html" encoding="ISO-8859-1" indent="yes"/>

<xsl:template match="/">
<dd>
<xsl:value-of select="/a/b/text()"/>
</dd>
<xsl:element name="bb"/>
</xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>

Example XML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<a>
<b>hola chica</b>
</a>

Output:
<dd xmlns="">hola chica</dd>
<bb xmlns=""></bb>

How can I avoid to get all the empty xmlns declarations?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Any help will be appreciated.

Oliver

Oliver

Thank You for reporting the problem I am able reproduce it.
It seems to be happening only when the output is set to html.

Hi,

so do you think it is a bug in Xalan-J itself, or could it also be a problem with Stylus?

Greetings,
Oliver

It seems to be more a problem with the Stylus Studio integration.
We are investigating.
