I've just run across what appears to be a bug with both MSXML 3 and 4 If you're using the xsl:processing-instruction element, neither of the above two processors will put in the closing '?' for you. As a result you'll need to include the '?' yourself, as follows: <xsl:processing-instruction name="import"> <xsl:text>namespace='iSvg' implementation='#AdobeSVG'?</xsl:text> </xsl:processing-instruction>

Lee,

Most likely the output of your transformation is set to 'html'.
HTML Processing instruction has a different syntax:
http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/REC-html40-19980424/appendix/notes.html#h-B.3.
