Subject:SS4 build91c: error in conjunction with VSS Author:Hans-Peter Küchler Date:16 Jul 2002 07:28 AM
Hi, build 91 has
"Improvements to Source Control integration (better synchronization is guaranteed when Source Control operations are run; check-out is required immediately when the user starts modifying a checked-in file)"
(see http://www.exln.com/products/stylusstudio/downloads/iftw_update/stylus%20studio.htm)
But build 91c looses this feature!
I remember the last days of SS version 3: There where also builds with inconsistent and lost features/improvements/corrections. Should "normal" users only use the "normal" updates (without characters in the build number)? Are the minor builds not fully featured builds, only addressing a "show stopper"? Where does the minor builds come from? From development branch, from maintenance branch or from outside these places? Please give some explanation about these issues because is difficult for me to decide which version should be used.

We'll look into this issue.
It's quite strange because "letter" releases (91c, for example) share the
same source code branch. So, 91c is on the same code branch of 91; that
should prevent issues like the one you are reporting from happening.
All Stylus Studio new builds are fully featured builds, incrementally
fixed/improved; 91c is 91 + fixes; 95 will be 91+91cFixes+other fixes.
So, from the user point of view, the rule should be to always use the
latest available build.
We are investigating what happened in this case; we'll let you know as soon
as possible.

Hans,
have you ever actually tried that functionality in BL91? We found the
problem, and the same problem already existed in BL91 (as well as in the
main development branch).
