Adam Van den HovenSubject: more document problems
Author: Adam Van den Hoven

It seems that I'm having trouble with the document function, again.

My xsl file is in

c:/something/datafeed/datafeed.xsl

My xml is in
c:/something/config/config.xsl

In my xsl file I have the line:

Which isn't returning any values under the Stylus studio processor. If I run it using MSXML then the data is returned. Since both the XML and the XSL files have the same relative path to default.xml it shouldn't be a matter of resolving relative references against the wrong base.

Any ideas?
Adam

I meant to write:

{xsl:copy-of select="document('../visitors/default.xml')" />

Is Stylus Studio displaying any error information about it not being able
to open the default.xml document? I assume not from your message.
Is default.xml open in Stylus Studio? Can you check if after the XSLT
processing is complete you can find it in the Project (Other Documents)
tree? You should; what does it happen if you double click on it?

Is this something that now always happen to you, I mean even after closing
and restarting the application?

Thanks,
Minollo

Nevermind answering my previous questions; we've been able to reproduce the
problem, which isn't in the document() function but in the copy-of XSLT
instruction. Looks like copy-of is not working when the 'select' attribute
points to the root of a document.

We have fixed the problem, and the fix is available in BL61f, on:
http://download.exceloncorp.com/downloads/studio/iftw_beta/stylus%20studio.htm

Thanks for reporting this,
Minollo

Well, I originally encountered the problem with param. I only tested the problem using copy-of.

Sorry that requires more explanation.

I had created a global param that was populated by default with, well, default.xml using the exact path I described. When I couldn't get anything to work, I tried to reproduce the problem with copy-of. I know the param didn't work since I got wrong/missing results and the variable entry for that param was empty in the debug mode.

You mean that the global param was something like:
{xsl:param name="myParam"}{xsl:copy-of
select="document('default.xml')"/}{/xsl:param}

If that was the case, then you were hitting the same problem that we fixed
yesterday evening with copy-of; myParam was created empty.
Otherwise, we need more information about what is not working.

Thanks,
Minollo

Actually I had:

{xsl:param name="myParam" select="document('../visitors/default.xml')"/}

I then had

{xsl:apply-templates select="$myParam//somenode-or-another" /}

In one of my templates. Actually the param was declared in an imported xsl and the apply-templates in the main one.

The problem should be gone away in BL61f; the internal function we fixed
played a role in defining/resolving parameter values; and the problems came
out when you were accessing document roots (as the value of the parameter
is the case you are mentioning).

Can you install it and see if you still have problems with this?

Thanks,
Minollo

Yeah. It seems to be fixed. Thanks.
