(Deleted User) Subject: How to reload the XML-Dokument in a scenario
Author: (Deleted User)

Hi!

How can I reload the XML-document from a specific XSLT-scenario, when the
sourece XML-document was changed?
(e.g I create a new XSLT-sheet and specify in the scenario parameters that
the "Source XML URL:" points to a file in an eXcelon store. During the
stylesheet creation the XML-file in the store is updated. Now when I try out
the stylesheet (F5), Stylus Studio still has the old XML-data.)

In Stylus 2.0 I could do this by re-assigning the XML-file to the
stylesheet. This doesn't work now in 3.0.

A absolut great feature would be a XML-Reload-Button in the XSLT Editor!

Thank you

Chris

You shouldn't need to do anything; if one of the documents used by Stylus Studio is modified (an XML file referenced by a stylesheet, an included/imported stylesheet or any other document), Stylus Studio will ask you if you want to reload it, and will update it's DOM.
The only part which is not refreshed is the Schema tree on the right of the template.

Are you getting the notification that the XML document has changed? If not, is the XML document stored on the same machine where Stylus Studio is running? (otherwise there could be issues with the clocks of the two machines being out-of-sync)

This is exactly the part which is not reloaded.

This is correct if it is a filesystem-XML-file. But NOT if it is an eXcelon
Portal Server XML-file (!). When I use a Portal Server XML-file as "Source
XML URL", then this file is NOT reloaded when I make structural changes in
the e.g. eXcelon eXplorer! And that is very bad, if you develop with
eXcelon.

Let's try it out ourself.

Thank you

Chris

PS: I'm using Stylus Studio #46.

It works for me.
Is the Portal Server server running on the same machine where Stylus Studio
is running? If not, are the clocks of the two machines in-synch?
Are you modifying the Portal Server file from your machine (the one where
Stylus Studio is running), or is it being modified by another client?

Thanks,
Minollo

Hi Minollo!

Maybe this behavior is, because I'm using eXcelon 2.6 SP1 with Stylus Studio
3.0.46. (Both are running locally on the same machine).

Can this be the problem?

Xian

Maybe; I'm running Portal Server 3.0
I'll run tests against 2.6 and let you know.

I tried running Portal Server 2.6; and, apart for the fact that the Schema
tree is not refreshed (that's a bug and will be fixed), Stylus Studio
correctly notifies me that the XML file has changed.

Something to check:
- Are you opening the document in Stylus Studio drag&dropping it from
eXcelon Explorer? That would work fine running Portal Server 3.0; but with
Portal Server 2.6 that would cause Stylus Studio to open a temporary local
file rather than opening the original source; you should open the file
through the Stylus Studio Open File dialog;
- What version of Portal Server 2.6 are you running (in eXcelon Explorer,
Help|About); I've run tests against build 120a

Thanks,
Minollo
