Darren HaydukSubject: Schema Validation
Author: Darren Hayduk

The help files says that that Stylus Studio can create and update both DTD and XML schemas, but can validate against only DTD schemas.

Can you tell me when the ability to validate against an XML Schema will be available?

Thanks,
Darren Hayduk

Stylus Studio relies on Xerces for parsing and validating XML documents;
Xerces 1.5 with initial support for XML Schema validation has now been
available for a couple of weeks; we have already upgraded to use the new
version, and we are working to hook up XML Schema validation.

It will be available as an update to the current version soon, either by
the end of July or, at the latest, in August.

Thanks for the reply. I assume when this feature is available, it will be noted on the download/update page...

Will there be support for xdr's?

Yes, we are going to support XMLSchema validation. As we rely on Xerces for
this feature, we will need to wait for them to add this feature; this is
expected to happen sometime in fall.
We will however enable the partial support they have (see
http://xml.apache.org/xerces-c/schema.html ) in the next weeks.

Hope this helps,

Alberto

I need to correct my previous statement: I didn't notice that you were
explicitly asking about XDR, (XML Data Reduced, the version used by
Microsoft before XMLSchema specs was a recommendation). We are going to
support only the official W3C spec, not that specific dialect that, by the
way, Microsoft pledged to abandon now that the official schema definition
has been published.
