Hi,

I installed the latest Stylus Studio X16 XML Enterprise Suite 64-bit. Running latest Windows 10 Pro Creators update. The trial has ended and I would like to uninstall the program for now. When I try it seems the uninstall path is broken, missing quotes probably, please, see the attached screenshot. Could you, please, send me instructions how to fix this or manually delete the software. I managed to find some answers here on the forum, but they seem very old. Thank you.

UPDATE - Found this in the registry. If you execute with admin rights it works:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{46573BDF-1042-4A16-8355-7551C4C2C4EA}\Setup.exe" -uninstall

Shame you did some basic configuration errors with your software.

Thank you for reporting this.

It seems to happen only if you have installed Stylus Studio before upgrading to the latest Windows 10 build "Creator Edition".


The Stylus Studio installer creates the following registry key


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
-WOW6432Node\
--Microsoft\
---Windows\
----CurrentVersion\
-----Uninstall\
------{46573BDF-1042-4A16-8355-7551C4C2C4EA}
-------"UninstallString"=

Where the value is the uninstaller command line

"RunDll32 C:\\Program Files (x86)\\COMMON~1\\INSTAL~1\\Engine\\6\\INTEL3~1\\ctor.dll,LaunchSetup \"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\InstallShield Installation Information\\{46573BDF-1042-4A16-8355-7551C4C2C4EA}\\Setup.exe\" -uninstall"

The first argument of RunDLL32 is a path shorted only partially, which seems to work in previous windows version.

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\COMMON~1\\INSTAL~1\\Engine\\6\\INTEL3~1\\ctor.dll

If you run the Stylus Studio installer after upgrading to Windows 10 "Creator Edition" the path is fully shorted and the uninstaller works.

RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~2\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup "C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{46573BDF-1042-4A16-8355-7551C4C2C4EA}\setup.exe" -uninstall

C:\PROGRA~2\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll

We can only speculate that there was a change in the Windows API behavior.
