Johan WendinSubject: Options to control whether BOM gets saved or not.
Author: Johan Wendin

Greetings,

It seems X15 doesn't remove BOM upon saving XML files like older versions did. (previous version we used where this worked was 2010).

I can't find any option to disable this feature - or rather any option to control whether to save with or without BOM.

Stylus saving files with BOM forces us to post-process the files in a second editor to use the files as input in another transformation tool. We've filed a bug report for that tool as well - but having the option to control whether or not BOM gets saved would make Stylus much better for us.

Hi Johan,

if you are using Unicode encoding the BOM signature is required to improve compatibility with other Unicode aware tools.

If you switch to UTF-8 the BOM will not be added.
Click on Edit -> Change Encoding.

Newly created document in Stylus Studio defaults to UTF-8, no BOM.

Any conform XML parser should handle the BOM correctly.
Which software is giving you trouble?

Hope this helps
