George RiceSubject: Unable to open file with '%2F' in filename

We have a very large set of files that include the literal characters "%2F" in the file name - for example, "ABC_12345%2FACE_1984.xml".

Stylus Studio is unable to open these files via File > Open or via (from the command prompt) Struzzo.exe "ABC_12345%2FACE_1984.xml". We receive the error "ABC_12345\FACE_1974.xml was not found".

Clearly, Stylus is translating %2F to a forward slash, then to a backslash, and then trying to open the second part of the file name as a file in a folder with the name of the first part of the file name.

I've tried various escape mechanisms such as "\%2F" and "%%2F" and "%25%2F" and "/", and I've also tried creating a simply named .LNK to these files, but Stylus seems determined to discover and change those 3 characters into a backslash no matter what I do.

We don't control the file names, so renaming them permanently isn't an option. Renaming them before we edit and back afterward is a serious productivity hit.

We've tested other editors such as XMLSpy and XML Notepad, and this seems to be a unique "feature" to Stylus.

How can I persuade Stylus to edit a file with "%2F" in the name?

Using X15 XML Enterprise Edition build 1910g with Java 1.6.0_45.

Hi George,

Sorry for the radio silence, we are able to reproduce the problem and working on fix. We will report here when we have build ready.

Thanks for reporting this
