This can happen if the account you are using to install
the package doesn't have sufficient permissions, or (rarely)
if there is a problem with the downloaded copy.

I read through the document that you suggested and am still unable to install this software for evaluation. I still get the same error message on different computers. The operating environment I am using is WinXP with MSOffice 2003 on one computer and MSOffice 2007 on another computer.

Do you have a %TEMP% environment variable set to some value? Is that value pointing to a location on a physical disk? Is there a reasonable amount of available disk space in that location?

The %TEMP% variable is set to point to a location on the local disk. The available disk space is 43GB.
I downloaded the SS2008 Professional version and just installed it without any problems. It is only the SS2008 Enterprise Suite that I can not install.
I am evaluating this product to work with X12 data files which requires the Enterprise Suite.

Can you try installing after deleting completely any remnant of the partial Stylus Studio 2008 Enterprise installation directory - if anything is there?
Are you installing Stylus Studio in the default location under Program Files, or in a different folder?

After reading your comments that suggest that there is a permissions problem during the installation, I used another account that we only use for installing software and imaging systems. The SS2008 Enterprise Suite installed under that account. I then uninstalled the SS2008 Professional version and attempted to "repair" the SS2008 Enterprise Suite but running the install program brought the error back. The program seems to be working so I am going to evaluate the software and not worry about the installation issue for now.

I finally received the activation key I was waiting for. I unistalled SS2008 Enterprise and downloaded a new copy. When trying to install this program using the login credentials that worked last time, I get the same error that I referred to on my original post.

We will generate an instrumented build and send it to you so that we can understand what's going on. We'll do our best to send it to you by Monday evening.

Hi there is another workaround for this.... at the last stage of the installation... at around 99% it gives a message "Verifying the installation"... then the crash popup comes... follow these steps carefully
1) once u get the crash popup, don't click on it. Open an Explorer window and browse to the folder wherever u've installed it (in my case C:\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2008 XML Enterprise Suite).
2) Now, either make a copy of the folder "Stylus Studio 2008 XML Enterprise Suite" with a different name, say 'xyz1' or zip the whole folder..
3) Then click on OK in the crash popup. The installer will cleanup the contents of the folder C:\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2008 XML Enterprise Suite. Wait until it is finished.
4) Then copy the contents of 'xyz1' or unzip the zipped installation to 'C:\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2008 XML Enterprise Suite'. Then create a shortcut for the file 'C:\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2008 XML Enterprise Suite\bin\Struzzo.exe' to use it, as the installer would clean up ur start menu entries for it....

This is clearly not what should happen; this thread is actually the first context in which we have seen this issue reported.
The problem is happening when trying to zip/unzip licensing information in the embedded deployment components; we would still like to understand what's happening to avoid this issue from happening again in the future. Are you still willing to try testing an instrumented installation package?
