Subject:Issues exporting SQL Server -> XML Author:Dustin Taylor Date:06 Aug 2014 07:46 PM
I’m currently evaluating Stylus Studio and I’m trying to export data and related metadata from SQL Server to XML. I currently have this working when hard coding the collection for a single table. This will obviously become tedious with the large number of tables I have. I have tried to dynamically generate the table name and pass to collection(). I have also tried reading in the table list as XML. Either method results in the error “[DataDirect][XQuery][err:FODC0004]Collection URI "file:/xx" does not reference a directory. Is there a way to accomplish what I’m trying to do?

Hi Dustin,
What you are describing is not support by DataDirect XQuery.
The processor requires the collection argument to be a literal string in order to build the SQL plan before executing the query.
One possible workaround is generating the XQuery code dynamically, in some use cases works well.
